So the BCS bowl games were just announced and Florida jumped past Michigan in the BCS polls.

This really does make the most sense. Think about it! Michigan already lost to Ohio State and even though it was an extremely close game Michigan still lost to Ohio State. If you don’t win your own conference, you simply can’t play for the national title.

Florida also only lost one game and that game was to Auburn in the last minutes of the game and really came down to one bad call. Anyone who watched that game clearly saw that Chris Leak threw the ball forward and what was ruled as a fumble should have clearly been called an incomplete pass.

I also think that since Michigan already played Ohio State and lost, that having Flordia get a chance simply makes the most sense.

I know the Michigan/Ohio State rivalry is huge in that part of the country, but it also made more sense to match up a Big Ten team against an SEC team, plus you’re also getting Michigan vs. USC at the Rose Bowl which should be a hell of a game as well.

Without an actual playoff system this controversey will go on year after year. I really can’t understand why they can’t just set up an 8 team playoff. There is 4 -5 weeks between the end of the regular season and the BCS bowl games, so why can’t those 8 teams play during that 4 week time period? 4 of the teams will only play the first week anyways, so the arguement of classes and the students need time off excuse just doesn’t fly.

So, in an imperfect world I actually think the computers and coaches actually got this one right, but an 8 team playoff sure would solve most of all these yearly problems.
