GOLF vs. TENNIS - Golf and tennis have 4 majors every year. Play 4 rounds of golf and you can win a major. Play 7 rounds of tennis and you can win a tennis major. Play a bad round of golf? don't worry, your total scores are added. Play a bad round of tennis, and YOUR OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT. A tennis ball can move over 140mph and you have two swing and move your feet in all directions to get it back. A golf ball moves at 0-mph and you are practically standing still when you hit it. Golf is played on GRASS. Tennis is played on GRASS, CLAY, HARDCOUT, and SYNTHETIC CARPET. When tennis player's get to old and out of shape to play tennis, a lot of them play golf. When golfer's get to old and out of shape to play golf, THEY DON'T PLAY TENNIS. Finally, golfer argue that Tiger has to play the field? That's because the field never gets eliminated like it does in a tennis match play format. Tiger match play as a pro has not been great and if he played 7 rounds of match play elimination like a tennis format, he would not have as many majors today.

TIGER vs. ROGER - Golf and Tennis have 4 majors every year. Tiger won his first major in 1997. From 1997-2007 Tiger has won 13 out of 44 majors. A wining percentage of 29.54% and Tiger is age 31. Roger won his first major in 2003. From 2003-2007 he has won 12 out of 20 majors. A wining percentage of 60% and Roger is age 26. Looking at these state who would you bet on to win more majors in 2008 Tiger or Roger? In 2007 Roger won WIMBLEDON for the 5the consecutive year in a row! And you golfers thought Tiger was dominant on grass? NEED I SAY ANYMORE?

That is a really tough question. I think I have to go with Tiger too though because he's withstood any challenge that's been thrown at him and gotten better from it. He changed his game mid-career even as he was winning major after major and has gotten even better. They've tried Tiger-proofing courses, and obviously that hasn't worked either. And his mental strength might be the most remarkable thing of all - his every move is watched with incredible scrutiny, and it never affects his play. I heard Jim Nantz say on the radio the other day that even great players fail in the clutch sometimes - but Tiger never does. He's in a league by himself.

Not to take anything away from Federer, who has been incredible, but it has to be noted that he plays in an era where he is the only great player, unlike the 80s and early 90s. Maybe he's so far ahead of everyone else that it jsut seems like he's the only great player, but I don't think so. And, this is nitpicking, but he has had his troubles at the French Open. But you have to nitpick when discussing greatness like this.
