dunno why every PC user reacts so violently and becomes overprotective of their dearly beloved operating system when stuff like this pops up. :P

if you think about it, there's a really big question mark about windows and macs.

When you get a windows computer, you have to face upon yourself a few things:

1. BUYING an antivirus program, or risk your computer to all sorts of god-knows-what's out there in the internet.

2. Having to accustom yourself to the occasional lag that's present EVEN in the best of computers such as alienware and the like.

3. Dealing with contagious viruses being spread through the sneakiest of means, whether via email attachments, USB flash drives, or Youtube videos

But hey, at least you get the benefits of:

1. So many programs that are made SPECIFICALLY for Windows, most of which require you to pay a few bucks to pay for the "Full" version. This makes some people resort to going to P2P sites to get "cracked" versions, which probably screw up their computer more than the site hosting it.

2. Games! Lots and lots of games! Isn't it what everything is about for most of the Windows users?

3. The complete assurance that any program made for Windows will be bound to be a victim to piracy, (which will probably never end), so you can get yourself "free" stuff.

Okay, time for those Mac users and converts.

Macs were designed to be pretty much idiot-proof and user-friendly. That means no need to tinker into your Program Files to look for whatever it is you need to make a shortcut of, or no need to wonder why the computer's lagging all of a sudden. It's purpose was basically for WORK, so it's expected that the performance should last AND match the expectations. I mean, come on, look at those price tags. :D

Stuff you could think about when you get a Mac:

1. No need to buy antivirus software, as most viruses for Macs basically just lag it or stick to your temporary files, which eat up memory. Easily addressed by free cleanup software.

2. Enjoying the hassle-free convenience of a smooth computer, doing everything in a sleek manner. No more worries about lag!

3. Software and accessories can kill your wallet, but it gives you the assurance that Apple MADE the software/accessory AND the hardware, so no problems with compatibility, issues etc.

Well hey, at least you get some consolation with these:

1. Games? Macs have them too. And if it makes any Mac user feel any better, Macs can actually run older (and some recently developed) games natively, thanks to the "Wineskin" technology. This pretty much means that whatever Windows can run, Apple can run as well.

2. Apple support! Way more reliable, since they know that whatever problem it is you have, they can address, since they know the hardware. Unlike Microsoft Assistance, they can't be entirely sure since there are HUNDREDS of different models of laptops with different insides and outsides which could affect how the OS works.

3. If you're feeling a little "homesick" for you old PC experience, you could get a virtual box for your Mac. Basically, it's a program which allows you to run other Operating Systems like an application, so you can minimize, maximize it while doing mail or something.

And for those windows followers who want to burn apple by saying it's cost-effective to get a pc over a mac, it might be good to remind you all that it's actually MORE expensive to maintain a computer that crashes than a computer that has an assured stability sans the cheap price tag.

No prejudice here, i've used both operating systems, and let's just say that windows needs to re-think their stuff. I mean, Windows 7 Starter won't even let its users change its background? What were they on when they decided THAT? :O

When did Ubuntu come out? Isn't that a fairly new version of LINUX? And just because Mac OS X is Unix based it doesn't automatically mean it copied Linux. In fact, they are completely different looking. I've used both of them, I use Ubuntu at work because my boss won't let me use my Macintosh and I refuse to use Vista.

And how many OS's aren't Unix based besides Windows? Not that many that I'm aware of. I'm pretty sure I stayed on topic, by the way.

And Macintosh market share is continuing to grow, so I don't think it'll be invisible for very long, thank you.

Oh god. Same people touting a system that's virtually invisible in the real world. Plus the title of the article is.. Did Windows copy Mac. Regardless of what your fantasy world tells you your comment has nothing to do with the article so you get your facts straight and stay on topic.

Or, how about, Apple and Windows copy Ubuntu and other Linux distributions, which have had these features far longer.

Get your facts straight next time you want to big up Apple.

Well. Lets just say Im not to shocked M$ have gone back to copying Apple Macintosh. Does anyone remember how much Windows 1.0 2.0 3.0 and 3.1 looking like MacOS?

Sure. Apple is more expensive and PC is more offordable. But why should that matter? You get a PC at 999 US dollers with WAY more hardware then a Apple for a price higher then that. I say big deal. Others will so ZOMG PC OWNZ.

But lets stop and think here. People claim Apple have copied from companys in the past when they "PAID" for the software to build on. So they didn't "STEAL" anything.

What has microsoft done to innovate in the world of PC? Not much. Not much at all really. Sure. Windows 95 and all the way up to XP has its own look. But I think its safe to say Windows has always been a rip off of Mac OS.

M$ didn't compete with Apple. They bought out all the PC companies. Thats how they got where they are. Apple makes there computers, most of the software AND the OS.

Now, Bill Gates is a good person, giving to charity and all that. But. Windows isn't and has never been in my opinion a very stable or innovative OS. I used Windows for 7 years, My daughter used it for about 3 years and now we've gone and got her a MAC for 2500 bucks. Why? Because her other laptops failed ALL the time.

Sure, Apple is more expensive BUT if you look at it. Which one runs better and last the longest? I'd give the vote to Apple. Why? We have an Macintosh II that still runs fine. Any PC we had bought with Windows 2.0 crashed and burned long ago.

In my opinion, if you want a computer that WILL NOT crash nearly as often as Windows and PC and you don't want to pay for virus software, tech support, and possibly future maitanance then go for the Apple. You pay more, it works, it lasts.

I think the only real strong point Windows has as an OS over Mac OS X is the games. My daughter still plays Shadowgate (A game relesed for the original Mac) and we have a Nintendo and PS3. Thats for our gaming. I personally think Apple is an original, Innovative and much better quality company. Microsoft is just a Apple and google copy cat who can't come up with there own ideas.

So the choice is yours. Pay 999 for a high end windows PC that probably wont last very long or you'll just have a crap load of problems, or. you can pay more for a little less and have a high quality, good running stable computer that will last.

The choice is yours, you get what you pay for, always remember that!

PS

Sorry for my bad english, I'm actually German :)
