Late yesterday local San Diego reporter for KFMB CBS 8 Larry Himmel reported live in front of his own house while it was taken over by flames and burned to the ground.

Apparently Mr. Himmel was told to a little earlier to get his family out of his home which he did and as he then had to go out for work to cover the fires was told the fire had spread and was about to move over the ridge near his house. He and his crew then jumped in their car and headed to Larry’s neighborhood where they watched and reported his home being burned down. Larry did say he and his family had lived in the home for 25 years.

It’s hard enough to lose a home that you worked for and lived in for so long, but watching it personally burn down must have been horrible. Even more incredible was the fact that he reported it live and appeared to remain completely composed.

My prayers go out to Larry and his family along with all the people suffering from this incredible natural disaster.

I’ve included a link if you’re curious to find out more about Larry Himmel and his career as a San Diego news reporter.
