There are numerous Desktop Twitter clients available for the Mac with most of them being free, but after trying out the supposed top ones like Twitteriffic and Twhirl among others I’ve decided that hands down the best Mac desktop Twitter client is Blogo. Now Blogo isn’t free like the others, but then again most of the others have ads added. In this case I think the $25 is well worth the price.
Why is Blogo so good? Well it first starts with the fact that it’s specifically made for the Mac. It comes with a beautiful user interface that most Apple Mac users will appreciate. It also not only works with Twitter, but also for posting to WordPress, Blogger, Typepad, Typo, Drupal, Expression Engine and Ping.fm. This software which comes with a 21 day free trial is much, much more than a typical Twitter client. Here are some of the top reasons you should give Blogo a try…
- Intelligent Microblogging
- Beautiful Mac interface
- Post images to TwitPic using drag and drop simplicity
- Use while online or offline
- Easily post videos by simply copy and pasting in code
- Full screen mode
- Use multiple accounts
Here are some screenshots of Blogo in action…

Update: Since writing this post back in January 2009 I have since stopped using Blogo and only use Tweetie for Mac and iPhone. Both come from a company called Atebits. Although Tweetie is my Twitter client of choice in the last 6 months many new clients have come out for both Mac and PC’s and really have done a great job introducing new features. Two of those clients are Seesmic Desktop and Tweetdeck.

My name is Bryan Hauer and I was born on January 11, 1976 in St. Paul, MN. Although my friends liked to kid me about it I am no relation as far as I know to the actor Rutger Hauer.
I grew up mostly in Minnesota and Wisconsin as I attended grade school in St. Paul, MN and junior high and high school in Racine, WI. After graduating high school I then went on to attend college in LaCrosse, WI.
Although I was born in Minnesota and lived there and Wisconsin most of my younger years, I've also lived in quite a few other states.

Bryan, thanks for this post. It really looks like Blogo is the desktop Twitter client I have been looking for. There are some minor things I'd like to change, but it does all of the important things I need.
NP. Blogo comes with a great interface and the developers are constantly working on improving it. I really like a lot of features it has, but it does still lack a number of features other free apps like Tweet Deck already offer. Hopefully the developers continue to add features as they really have the best user interface. If you do try it, please post another comment here with your thoughts.
When recommending, try to leave out affiliated links. It takes away veracity.
It also takes away from my pocket. If I suggest something it's cause I used it and enjoyed it and if that also means making a few bucks at the same time I'm cool with that. If you don't like the affiliate link move onto another site or go directly there. Oh and take a deep breath, grab a drink and relax… it's not that important to troll around the internet bitching.
Btw… I'm also an affiliate marketer. I guess I could have masked the link. In the end it really shouldn't matter as you can read the review, go to the site however you want (via Google) and make your own decision.
Btw… This post was written quite a while ago. I now use Tweetie for Mac and Tweetie for iPhone. http://www.atebits.com (no affiliate link)
I actually tried to use Blogo for a good while because of this post! Blogo is nice software but dramatic overkill for Twitter.
I now use Tweetie (AteBits) and Twit Menulet (http://twitmenulet.com) in combination, the former for power sessions and the latter pretty much all day.
