Where will Allen Iverson end up?

allen_iverson.jpgSo we’re now into day 6 of the Allen Iverson trade circus and still no team has jumped to the front of the line to take him off the Sixers hands.

Although this may sound biased since I’m originally from the Twin Cities, I do actually think he would best fit in Minnesota playing along side Kevin Garnett. I must not be alone in this either considering the question of the night on ESPN Sports Center tonight was where people thought he should go and overwhelmingly people said Minnesota would be his best fit. As of 7:30 pm Central Time there were over 213,000 votes and so far 48% of people around the world think he should be in a Timberwolves jersey. The next closest team was the Celtics at only 19%.

According to ESPN yesterday they reported that he nixed a deal with Charlotte because they were not a playoff or championship caliber team, but then again neither are some of the other teams in the mix. Stephen A. Smith reported earlier today that he would best fit in LA or Miami for not only basketball reasons, but also for personal reasons, but these teams are already loaded with talent and also there’s not much room for them under the salary cap and AI has well over a $50million contract.

Minnesota is a great fit because not only are they a great guard/scorer away from possibly being a front runner in the west, but Minneapolis the city is a good fit for AI. It’s cosmopolitan with big city nightlife, but not nearly all the hassles of an east coast city like Philly or NYC.

Plus AI and Garnett would be a ridiculous combo. Allen Iverson is one of the best true scoring guards in the history of the NBA and many would argue that Kevin Garnett is possibly the most talented big man of the last 20 years, but his problem was he just never had any supporting cast.

If Minnesota can’t get a deal done with the Sixers in the next 48 hours I’m afraid their season and possibly next years will go down the shitter. They may have to give up Randy Foyle their first round draft pick from last year and possible a first round pick from next year, but getting Iverson would definitely be worth it. Foyle hasn’t added up to much yet anyways. Although he’s very young he’s still only averaging 5.9 points/game. I’d take over 30/game any day of the week.

Well, I’d love to hear what some of you think about where Allen Iverson should end up so feel free to leave a comment.
